Panayot Karagyozov

Panayot Karagiozov is a professor of Slavic literature at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and former Dean of the Faculty of Slavic Philology from 2007 to 2015. He defended PhD degrees at the Charles University in Prague (1986) and at the Sofia University (2006). He divides his time between Sofia and the state of Kansas, USA. He is the author of several collections of Polish poetry translated into Bulgarian as well as numerous academic books, including: "Polish poetry between the two World Wars" (2019); "Calendars, Martyrs and Poets" (2012); "Slavic Holy Martyrs. Holiness and canonization; chronology and typology, critique and apology of Slavic martyrdom” (2006); "Former Slavs today” (1997); "Self-consciousness of literature— historiographies of Slavic literatures " (1996), and many others.
